“Fahrenheit 213”

NCWCA’s Feminist Annual Art Exhibition

April 13 - May 11, 2019

"Artists provide the imagery.
Writers respond.
Together our voices will be heard."

Founded in 1972, the Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) is an affiliate society of the College Art Association and a founding partner of the Feminist Art Project. F213 was a National Curatorial Exhibition sponsored by the Northern California National Women's Caucus for Art (NCWCA) and curated by NCWCA’s feminist curatorial collective led by Tanya Augsburg. I was honored to take part in this project as a writer.

F213—short for Fahrenheit 213, one degree above the boiling point of blood—brought together nearly 100 feminist artists and writers from across the Bay Area who are incensed by the ongoing erosion of civil liberties, civil rights, and hard-won protections in the United States. The exhibition brought together multicultural, multigenerational feminist artists and writers to not only express their concerns, but to offer insights to all those interested in remedying current injustices and atrocities.”

As a contributing writer, I was invited to write a response piece to a set of artworks displayed in dialogue with one another; my text was published in the exhibition book. Additionally, I collaborated with gallery coordinators during special events organized by the NCWCA to promote the exhibition and foster public engagement.
